Meet Todd Robinson
You might say I’ve been in home construction all my life. My grandfather was a carpenter and a stonemason who practiced his trade in the farm country and small towns and villages around Tara, Ontario – over south of Owen Sound. My dad became a stonemason, too, and from the time I was old enough, I worked summers and weekends with him. So maybe I was born to be a home builder.
We worked on projects throughout the area, and in 1985 I jumped right into custom home building.
The summer after I graduated from high school, I enrolled in Georgian College’s General Carpenter Apprenticeship program and began my apprenticeship with Ernie Rowley at Sandhill Construction in Clarksburg. Ernie was a pioneer custom home builder in the Beaver Valley, Collingwood and Thornbury areas, and the six years I spent building houses with him gave me a solid understanding of the unique challenges and skills you need to have to take a project from initial sketches through the final finish on the trim.
My wife, Jill, and I got married during those years. With Jill working in Owen Sound and my job with Ernie in Clarksburg, Meaford seemed like the perfect place to live. We settled here, and we still call it home.
At Sandhill Construction, we must have worked on 20 home construction and renovation projects a year, so by the time I was ready to strike out on my own, I already had a lot of experience under my belt. Todd Robinson Construction built its first house in 1991 (the same year our first daughter was born… our second came along two years later.)
In the 28 years since, I’ve built a strong team of experienced subtrades. And we’ve helped families from Owen Sound to Collingwood to the Beaver Valley move in to the homes they’ve dreamed of. I’m looking forward to helping you and your family.
Get in touch, and let’s talk about your custom home, addition or renovation.
